ABOUT ME

My name is Ken Coulson, and I originally hail from Brisbane, Australia. I hope and pray that I can help you navigate some of the pitfalls that can be found in any worldview on origins, young-earth creationism included.

I earned my BA degree in Christian Ministries from The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, California; my BS degree in Geology from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio; and my Ph.D. in Earth Science from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. My dissertation is on Cambrian stromatolites/microbialites, their formation, and their environmental significance.

It was while pursuing my degree in geology at Cedarville University that I met and married my beautiful wife, with whom I now have three wonderful children. My family is currently located in San Diego, where I teach as an associate professor of science at San Diego Christian College.

Those who know me know that I examine everything and do so with analytical rigor, whether that be in areas related to theology or science. I think of the words of Socrates, who said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.”

Before embarking on a scientific career, I had the great privilege of studying theology at a conservative Bible college and an equally conservative seminary, both of which fostered a mindset of critical thinking.  I believe this valuable experience has enabled me to grasp the theological facets of creationism and tie them nicely with the scientific facets.
